Dean took up photography seriously in 2011 with a focus primarily on floral macro and landscapes. It wasn’t until 2019 that Dean found an interest in bird photography, which is now his only subject matter. Dean particularly loves the challenge of capturing photographs of birds in flight. Though perched birds still form part of his portfolio, birds in flight have become his main focus.

Dean has studied Photo-Artistry online for 8 years and enjoys capturing a good photograph of a bird and transforming into a piece of art. Dean’s style and medium is unique, with digital photo-art printing (through a process of sublimation) onto aluminium. Raptor Refuge is very lucky to have the support of such a talented raptor lover, with a proportion of his sales being donated to Raptor Refuge.

“With my love of the raptors and my love of photography and photo-artistry, it is a perfect fit to be able to support Raptor Refuge by selling Raptor Art and helping to support the great work that is being done by the team to rehabilitate injured raptors that come into the facility.”  –  Dean Hohn
